Warranty policy

Every quote includes WEA's standard warranty terms below. The warranty block appears verbatim on every quote document; changes require Operations Manager sign-off.

Workmanship warranty

  • 12 months from the date of practical completion on all installation work carried out by WEA staff.
  • Covers: faulty installation, incorrect termination, incorrect labelling, failure to meet AS/NZS 3000 compliance at the time of handover.
  • Excludes: damage caused by third parties, overloads caused by client equipment added after handover, and failures caused by upstream network supply issues.

Materials warranty

  • Manufacturer warranty pass-through on all materials supplied by WEA. WEA does not extend the manufacturer's warranty period beyond what the manufacturer offers, but WEA will manage any warranty claim on the client's behalf during the workmanship warranty period at no cost.
  • Typical manufacturer warranty periods for common WEA-supplied items:
    • Switchboards: 5 years
    • Circuit protection (MCB, RCBO, MCCB): 2 years
    • Cabling: manufacturer defect warranty (varies, typically 2 years)
    • LED emergency lighting and exit signs: 5 years
    • Thermal imaging service: not applicable — service only.

Critical systems extension

For critical systems (main switchboards ≥ 400 A, emergency lighting systems, Essential Services equipment), WEA offers an optional extended workmanship warranty at quote time:

  • 24 months extended: +2% of the project ex-GST total
  • 36 months extended: +3.5% of the project ex-GST total

The extension is a line-item on the quote and is disclosed clearly. It is offered, not assumed — clients opt in.

Defect liability period

During the workmanship warranty period, WEA will attend site within:

  • 24 hours for faults that cause complete loss of power to the site or any essential service.
  • 5 business days for non-critical defects.

Attendance within these SLAs is at no charge. Attendance outside the workmanship warranty scope (e.g., client-caused faults) is billable at standard pricing-labor rates with a minimum 2-hour charge.

Transfer on sale of premises

The workmanship warranty is tied to the installation, not the client organisation. If the premises change hands during the warranty period, the new owner inherits the remaining warranty on production of the original quote and invoice documents.
