Key AI-related responsibilities under the executive order include:

• Requiring reporting from companies developing dual-use foundation models
• Developing guidelines and best practices for AI safety and security
• Creating companion resources to the nist-ai-rmf-1-0 for generative-ai
• Establishing technical conditions for models subject to reporting requirements
• Leading international efforts on AI standards development
• Developing frameworks for content authentication and synthetic content detection

The Secretary of Commerce is authorized to use powers granted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to carry out AI-related security provisions of the executive order.
